About Us

Our mission is to bring greater joy to every celebration through the passion of KWONG NGAI while providing a platform for young enthusiasts in Johor to learn and grow in the art of lion dance. We believe that lion dance is not just a performing art but also a symbol of unity, strength, and cultural continuity.

In 2023, we embarked on a new chapter by establishing KWONG NGAI Mount Austin in Johor Bahru. This expansion brought fresh vitality to our mission, and the Mount Austin team has already grown to over 20 members. Together, we remain dedicated to our goal of actively advancing the development of lion dance in Malaysia.

KWONG NGAI LION DANCE JOHOR was founded on August 29, 2013, under the witness of Master Lee Yee Chein and Master Tan Kee Boon, the founder of KWONG NGAI Malaysia. Originating from Batu Pahat, Johor, our team started with approximately 30 members and has since grown into a key force in promoting lion dance culture across Malaysia.

Since its establishment, our vision has been to ensure that every festive occasion in Johor is filled with vibrancy and joy, while preserving and perpetuating the rich heritage of lion dance culture. We actively participate in various competitions across Malaysia, showcasing the energy and artistry of lion dance on stages big and small.
